VIBE: What memory of Pimp C stands out the most to you?

BUN B: So many changes and phases of life. I think on a good day, on a great day, I couldn’t point my finger at one thing. So many different memories: The day we signed, our first video, the first time we heard ourselves on the radio. So many different things. Where were you when you found out he died? Who told you?

Rapper Pimp C died of natural causes in a Hollywood hotel room today.

There was no cause of drugs or drug use found in his room. The rapper, we've learned, was found fully clothed on top of the bed. He did not seem to have fallen or injured himself and he was positioned on his side.

Winter said it did not appear that there was anyone else in the room at the time of his death. An autopsy will be performed and toxicology test results will be available in six to eight weeks.

Pimp C, whose real name is Chad Butler, was one half of the Houston rap duo UGK.

L.A. County Fire responded to a 911 call at the Mondrian Hotel, located on trendy Sunset Strip in Hollywood. They arrived to his sixth floor hotel room to find him dead in bed.

ON Novemeber 29, it was confirmed that Missing JSU student Latasha Norman body was found, and that her boyfriend was suspected of the murder, here's more.

The ex-boyfriend of a JSU student missing since Nov. 13 has been charged with killing her, officials say.

Stanley Cole, 24, is suspected in the slaying of Latasha Norman.

A body found this afternoon off Brown Street in north Jackson is that of Norman, Jackson Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jeffery Scott confirmed late today.

The remains were found around 2 p.m. in a wooded area on Brown Street near County Line Road.

Cole, a criminal justice major at JSU, was in a Pearl court early Thursday for a hearing into charges he struck Norman Oct. 9 at a restaurant in Pearl. He was later taken into custody for further questioning in Norman�s disappearance.

Cole, whom Scott had termed �a person of Interest� a few hours earlier, was formally charged with murder after Norman�s body was found.

Cole apparently led police to the body.

The university, which spearheaded vigils and other events to keep Norman�s disappearance in the news, has cancelled classes Friday in her honor.

�I want to extend my deepest and most profound sympathy to the Norman/Bolden family, Latasha�s friends and others who loved her,� JSU President Ronald Mason Jr. said. �There are simply no words that can take away the anguish felt in the face of such a heinous and senseless act.�

The Jackson State Department of Public Safety has been investigating Norman�s disappearance along with the FBI, Hinds County Sheriff�s Department and the Jackson Police Department.

�We all worked around the clock, hoping that we could bring Latasha back safely,� said Chief Rebecca Coleman, director of the Jackson State Department of Public Safety. �Now, our efforts must shift to seeking justice. We mourn with Latasha�s family and friends.�

A memorial service in memory of the junior accounting major is set for noon Monday in the Rose Embly McCoy Auditorium on the main campus.

Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart said more testing would be needed for a positive identification of the body. It was badly decomposed, police said.

An autopsy is planned for tonight.

Norman, an accounting major from Greenville, had been the subject of a nationwide search.

Her story had been featured on CNN. Digital billboards leased by JSU for advertising purposes had for days flashed Norman�s picture and listed law enforcement contact numbers.

Producers of the popular TV show, America�s Most Wanted, were in Jackson on Wednesday, filming a segment on Norman.

Norman, 20, was described as a serious student who kept to herself.

JSU student Jerry Zigler worked with Norman on the school yearbook. Zigler was the editor in chief, and Norman worked on the campus life section, he said.

�Tasha was sort of quiet but not shy,� he said.

Norman had a good sense of humor, he said, and she loved having her photo taken.

�She maybe wasn�t always the first person to go out and talk to people, but she would be the first one to get in the photo,� Zigler said.

Zigler said he remembered one yearbook photo in particular in which Norman was caught off guard.

�It was a bad picture,� he said. �But she wanted it in there.�

Zigler had taken the photo out of the section, but Norman went back and put it back in.

�I told her we would take it again, but she wanted that one,� he said.

Pittsburgh police said a man accused of assaulting a 10-month-old girl last week has been charged with homicide in the baby's death. Only 10 months old, Da'Niyah Marie Jackson, of Troy Hill, was assaulted last week in her Herman Street home, police said. The baby died Saturday at Children's Hospital.The Allegheny County medical examiner ruled the death of Da'Niyah a homicide. CNN reports that the examiner said the autopsy showed the baby died of multi-system organ failure and blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

The mother told police she left the baby with her boyfriend, Clinton Smith, on Thursday morning when she went to her waitressing job. Smith was also caring for his 2-year-old son.Smith, 30, was charged with homicide, rape, aggravated assault, among other charges.The mother returned from work and found her baby unresponsive at 9:30 p.m. and called paramedics.

The baby had severe bruises on her face, arms and legs, as well as a bite mark on her chest, police said. Doctors told police she had also been sexually assaulted."It was tragic," said Assistant Chief Maurita Bryant of the Pittsburgh Police Department.

"As police officers, we all can see the ugly side of society and in this case, what happened to Dania absolutely tears our hearts."A preliminary hearing for Smith was scheduled for Wednesday. He was awaiting trial on an unrelated June charge of simple assault, court records show.

In a separate September 2006 case, a woman who has two young children with Smith was granted a protection-from-abuse order against him after she said he attacked her and their daughter.

Mississippi College Student Missing for a Week

JACKSON, Miss. — A college student has been missing for a week, and this city's police chief says her race is the reason her disappearance hasn't gotten more attention.

Latasha Norman, who is black, was last seen November 13 in one of her classes at Jackson State University. Her car was left on the campus, and the 20-year-old never returned to her dormitory room.

Luther Samuel, a detective with the campus police, said investigators have combed the campus and have been searching all over the state, but no sightings of Norman have been reported.

Police say they have no suspects. Among the people they have questioned are her current boyfriend and an ex-boyfriend who was charged Thursday with hitting Norman last month.

Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin said Norman's disappearance should get "the same kind of concern" as that of Stacy Peterson, 23, a white woman from suburban Chicago who has been missing for three weeks.

"As far as the interest by the national media in the story, I think race probably had an impact," said McMillin, who is white. "It's a small college in the South. It's the daughter of simple people who maybe are not important outside of their circle, and maybe we don't attach the same importance to them that we do for other people."

Police have named Peterson's 53-year-old husband, a former police officer, as a suspect in her disappearance. Drew Peterson denies any wrongdoing, but prosecutors also are investigating the 2004 death of his third wife, which they now believe was a homicide staged to look like an accident.

Norman is a junior accounting major from the Mississippi Delta city of Greenville.

"We're not going to stop until we know something. We're going to be relentless," said her father, Danny Bolden. "I'll ask that God may touch whoever ... may have done this, that they may come forward and bring Tasha back to us because we love her very much."

Essence: What kind of year has it been for you?

Sanaa Lathan: I’m happy to have gotten a job this year. You know one of the things I decided early on in my career—especially because I only have me to take care of—is that I don’t want to do anything just for money. As a result, I can be very annoying to my agents and pass on everything. To a fault. But something came along that I’m really excited about. I’m playing a Senegalese woman, and it’s the first time that I’ll be able to do some real accent work. It’s a small, really beautiful film. Other than that, I’ve just been living my life. Living the life that you live as an actor between jobs, which is…

Nia Long, Gabrielle Union: [Immense laughter]

Sanaa: You know, at this point in our careers, we’re all in our mid-thirties. There’s an art to being an actress, especially being a Black actress. And the truth is, to have persevered as long as the three of us have, you have to have some kind of philosophy about being in between work.

Essence: Because that’s so much time, right?

Sanaa: So much time.

Nia: No matter how long you’ve been in it, there is no security. So you have to really do sort of that internal work to just say I’m going to stay true to who I am, and also to have your heart open enough to be happy when other great things are happening for other people who do the same thing you do. Because that can be difficult if you’re not in the right place. I think having that helps to attract your highest good to you.

Gabrielle: That’s a tough lesson we all have to go through. It’s like, no matter how much you hate on somebody, it doesn’t change your life. I mean, you feel kind of okay in the moment as you’re dogging somebody, and then at the end of it you feel [bad] —and you still don’t have a job.

Nia: And you won’t get one because you’re putting all that negativity out there!

Sanaa: I truly believe that. And you know the thing is also, because we are artists, we feel. We have to nurture that sensitive side of ourselves, so of course we’re going to get jealous and envious. We’re human. But the key is to have the emotion, recognize it, deal with it, and move on. That’s what being an adult is. I think in life you have to work on yourself, but it’s almost like being an actress in Hollywood is double the stress.

ON GOSSIP

Essence: How do you deal with the 24-hours-a-day gossip that comes out on the Internet?

Gabrielle: Just last week somebody gave me a baby. This isn’t Perez Hilton or the White gossip people, these are women of color, specifically Black women who, for whatever reason, don’t like the company I keep.

Sanaa: She’s talking about the gossip sites.

Essence: The blogs.

Sanaa: That are run by Black women.

Gabrielle: And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts.

Nia: We are some of the few Black actresses whose passions are rooted in our community.

Gabrielle: There is this idea that there is integrity in journalism; if it’s written it has to be true. But that’s not the case. When blogs or any of the magazines get it wrong, there’s no accountability. In the next breath, they’ll complain on the blogs that we don’t have enough Black stars. Well, you rip us to shreds every two seconds from our nose to the weave to the clothes to the shoes to the ashy ankles.

The young lady who was busted in the head a couple of weeks ago by Da Brat with a bottle of rum is bringing that attorney heat on both Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri’s club Studio 72.

Shayla Stevens, the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader ( also actress on The Gospel) who was allegedly assaulted by Da Brat earlier this month, has hired prominent attorneys Willie Gary and CK Hoffler and their firm, Gary, Williams, Finney, Lewis, Watson and Sperando P.L. Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, allegedly struck Stevens with a 1.7 liter bottle of rum during a shoving match in the club in the early hours of November 1. According to Gary, Stevens has suffered permanent injuries to her face, as well as possible neurological damage. Additionally, she will miss upcoming games as cheerleader for the Falcons, as well as a scheduled role on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne sitcom. Gary, who is nicknamed “The Giant Killer” for his judgments against corporations, is noted for winning a $240 million jury verdict against Walt Disney, for stealing his clients idea for a theme park.

He also claims that the owners of Club 72, hesitated to contact police due to the negative publicity the assault would cause. A manager who witnessed the assault allegedly failed to help Stevens seek proper medical attention and she was eventually taken to the hospital by a family member. Gary also said that prior to the assault, club owners and security had the opportunity to remove Da Brat from Club 72, but failed to do so. Da Brat was charged with aggravated assault.

She was released on $50,000 bond as a result of the incident.

I was waiting to post this just for conformation but this just in from the AP has confirmed that Kanye West mother Mrs.Donda West has died.she died earlier today in California,Kanye was oversea's in London when he heard the news.

Donda West, the mother of Kanye West and former chairwoman of Chicago State University's English department, passed away Saturday, according to a spokesman for the family. She was 58.

According to multiple sources, West was in Los Angeles and her death may have been the result of complications from a surgical procedure; Patricia Green, Dr. West's publicist, told CNN on Monday (November 12) that the surgery was cosmetic but did not provide further details.

Although widely known as the mother of Kanye, Dr. West was a noted scholar and an active college professor for 31 years; she left the profession in 2004 to assist with Kanye's career, according to her biography on the Web site of the Kanye West Foundation, an educational nonprofit of which she was chair. She was also chief executive of West Brands, the parent company of her son's businesses.

Reports are going around that J. Lo may be getting drop by her record label Epic. Lopez just released a new Cd titled Brave, which did an ridiculous 53,000 copies in its first week. Also thats not just the only reason why Epic is looking to drop Lopez, while selling a weak 53,000 copies her first week, the Cd cover was $ 60,000 to make and her video was a whooping $ 30,000 to produced, now if you add the total for how much it took to make the CD and the video, and subtract that from the copies sold you can see why Epic wants to drop her ass.

The source said, “Sony and Epic might keep her, but she’ll be doing little more than greatest hits albums. That you can do without incurring a huge cost. The label is tired of throwing money away.”

T.Pain Arrest Follow Up

T. Pain was arrested Nov 2 on outstanding warrants in his hometown of Tallahassee, Florida . T Pain who real name is Faheem Najm , was arrested for non moving traffic violations and driving with suspended licenses.

But now it seems that his label Jive is denying tha T. Pain was ever arrested.

This is what they had to say

"T-Pain was given a few traffic tickets several years ago for minor infractions [a speeding ticket, running a stop sign, failure to pay]” a representative for Jive said. “These were mistakes that Pain made as a young man that just received his driver’s license. He did not have the money nor the knowledge at the time to take care of them.”

The JIVE rep says T-Pain wasn’t arrested and he voluntarily turned himself in.
“There was no bail and he was released on his own recognizance within a few hours…He will not miss any scheduled engagements” said the JIVE rep.
